Anti-wrinkle activity

In 3D cocultures fibroblasts with a nidogen deficiency showed impaired BM formation as monitored by immunofluorescence. Compared to controls, nidogens no longer decorated the cells and laminin g1 chain laminins were lost with some delay followed by collagen IV and a reduced amount of integrin b1 tetraspanin. Nevertheless, a continuous staining of the cell-matrix interface could still be observed. The fact that nidogens act also in other functions than their BM-building function suggests that they might be involved in signaling processes. This would be supported by the high susceptibility of nidogens to proteases like matrix metalloproteases or cathepsin S.

Biotinylated peptides
