What Is a Radio Frequency Handle?
It is a monopolar device
Radio frequency (RF) is a type of electromagnetic radiation that can be used to heat and contract tissue. It is the lowest of a range of electromagnetic radiation frequencies, which also includes microwaves, infrared, optical (visible light), ultraviolet and x-rays. RF can be delivered with either monopolar or bipolar equipment. The former has a single electrode that emits energy into the skin, while the latter has two or more electrodes. Regardless of the type of delivery, the current flow through the skin causes resistance which creates the heating effect. RF is safe for most people, though certain health conditions can make the procedure unsafe.
In the case of facial RF, it can tighten the skin and promote collagen growth. This is especially effective in patients with mild to moderate sagging, and can be used on almost any skin colour. The results are gradual and can be seen after a series of treatments.
In contrast, a full body RF treatment using the Venus Legacy machine can tighten skin and reduce cellulite and minimise textural Radio Frequency Handle problems such as stretch marks. Unlike a face RF, this treatment can be performed on the entire body, and takes up to 90 minutes to complete. The treatment is usually painless, and can be done without anesthesia. However, it is important to use a conductive gel on the skin to ensure that the current flows through the correct path and avoids any possible damage to surrounding tissues.
